McDonald’s Australia increases employee safety engagement and participation by 500% with HSI Safety Management System

McDonald's Australia, with more than 970 restaurants and 100,000+ employees, faced slow, paper-based safety reporting that delayed visibility into hazards and made record retrieval a major time drain. To improve frontline engagement and speed up information flow, McDonald's sought a digital safety solution from HSI, replacing manual logs with an automated EHS platform.

HSI implemented its Safety Management System (HSI EHS platform), giving employees fingertip access to incident reporting, photos and video uploads, configurable workflows and forms, and a trial-driven rollout that incorporated staff feedback. The result: company-wide safety participation rose 500%, a 95% employee acceptance rate, faster identification of issues (e.g., aggregated burn data led to new training and nearly eliminated incidents), and a marked cultural shift toward visible, proactive safety across McDonald’s.
