Large energy provider achieves 97% chemical inventory compliance rate

Large Utilities Provider, a U.S. utility operating more than 19,000 MW, was struggling with an inefficient chemical and SDS reporting system that was difficult to manage and failed to meet regulatory requirements. The organization partnered with HSI to address these gaps using HSI’s SDS Management and On-Site Inventory (OSI) services.

HSI conducted a comprehensive OSI audit, implemented a new SDS management system with ongoing monitoring, deployed OSHA- and GHS-compliant secondary labeling and an automated materials approval process, and integrated the solution into the provider’s Asset Suite (moving from flat-file to API integration to remove manual work). As a result, HSI helped the Large Utilities Provider increase chemical inventory compliance from 25% to 97%, centralize compliance data, and replace a burdensome platform with an automated, maintainable solution.
