How PepsiCo Streamlined the Management of Chemicals and Safety Data Sheets

PepsiCo, a global food and beverage company with more than 500 brands and roughly 300,000 employees operating in 200+ countries, faced the complex task of managing tens of thousands of safety data sheets (SDSs) in multiple languages and meeting OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements. To ensure SDSs were accessible, current, and auditable across its operations, PepsiCo selected HSI’s Chemical Management platform.

HSI implemented an electronic, read-only SDS library and centralized chemical management solution that tailors notifications by location, aggregates and analyzes SDS data for inventory and compound tracking, and supports on-site SDS refresh efforts. The HSI platform sped SDS lookup in emergencies, reduced spreadsheet-driven errors, improved reporting accuracy for compliance, and helped PepsiCo keep thousands of SDSs up to date—lowering the risk of regulatory penalties and operational gaps.
