Blended programs and quality content streamlines training and saves time for healthcare, law enforcement, EMS and fire professionals

Community Health Associates, LLC delivers lifesaving emergency care and safety training to healthcare professionals, law enforcement, EMS and fire personnel. Facing the challenge that first-on-scene responders have demanding schedules yet still need engaging, certification and recertification training tied to real-life scenarios, Community Health Associates turned to HSI programs—including CPR AED | First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Bloodborne Pathogens and the HSI Instructor Development Course—to provide flexible, high-quality instruction.

HSI’s blended-learning approach, delivered via the Otis learning management system with digital student books, scenario videos and customizable course packages, allowed Dr. J. Hudson Garrett, Jr. to shorten classroom time, focus on hands-on skills check-offs, and combine courses (e.g., BLS + BBP) for deeper training. The HSI solution streamlined training and increased engagement—students praise the content, one trainee used the training to save a life, Dr. Garrett has trained instructors for three police departments, the University of Louisville now has eight HSI instructors and expects about 400 BLS students this year, and agencies benefit from lower per-student costs.
