Case Study: Black & Veatch achieves greater safety autonomy and reduced training costs with HSI

A HSI Case Study

Preview of the Black & Veatch Case Study

Black & Veatch partners with HSI to streamline safety management systems and training

Black & Veatch, an HSI customer since 2006, sought greater autonomy and lower costs after moving on from two incumbent providers. The EHS team needed a self‑configurable safety management solution to avoid incremental development costs and delays, while also expanding use of emergency care and online training to support its 10,000‑employee global workforce and thousands of subcontractors.

HSI delivered a suite of solutions — a self‑configurable Safety Management System, expanded Online Safety Training (including OSHA 10/30 and pandemic best practices), Emergency Care as an authorized ASHI training center, and Industrial Skills programs for the USAID “Rebuild Afghanistan” initiative. As a result, Black & Veatch gained improved productivity, centralized mission‑critical data, and stronger safety culture with measurable impact: HSI supports 20 active instructors delivering 500+ employee certifications per year, reduced training costs through vendor consolidation, and helped train thousands via the industrial skills program.
