How to create a kick-ass onboarding experience

Fraedom, a global payments and expense-management provider with about 400 employees across eight offices, set out to preserve its start-up culture by delivering a “kick-ass” first day. Although welcome packs with custom shoes and swag were popular, new hires reported being overwhelmed by compliance training and frustrated by provisioning delays and desk-readiness issues, leaving onboarding survey scores underwhelming.

Fraedom implemented HROnboard’s mobile-first solution to automate offer creation, approvals and provisioning, enable PIN-based digital acceptance, and deliver bite-sized induction content over time. The change cut new-hire processing from three weeks to two days, improved IT asset and data-privacy controls, raised role-confidence to 93% by month two, and generated consistently positive feedback from new starters.
