A HPE Simplivity Case Study
Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), a Vedanta subsidiary operating a 1,980 MW super‑critical power plant in Punjab, faced poor IT availability and high operational overheads. A legacy client‑server environment served about 100 local users over MPLS from a central data center, causing application response times of up to ~5 minutes, frequent downtime, escalating bandwidth and admin costs, and a need for 7–8 on‑site IT engineers.
TSPL consolidated its server and storage onto three HPE SimpliVity HCI nodes and deployed VMware Horizon VDI for ~100 desktops, bringing integrated backup, dedupe and automated DR. The result: applications and data now load in under 5 seconds (vs ~5 minutes), ~99.9999% availability, roughly 10:1 capacity reduction (~90% savings), management reduced to a couple of on‑site engineers, improved scalability and BYOD readiness, and projected 30–40% lower TCO with easy replication to other ROBO sites.
