A HPE Simplivity Case Study
The Town of Newington, Connecticut (state & local government) replaced an aging six-server, six iSCSI SAN environment after a capacity upgrade prompted a platform review. IT wanted to simplify management and reduce infrastructure complexity—previously they dealt with multiple solutions, vendors and extensive cabling (24 power cables and 76 1Gb network connections across two data centers).
They deployed HPE SimpliVity OmniCube hyperconverged infrastructure to consolidate their data centers and modernize infrastructure for VDI, production apps and test/dev. The move cut cabling to 12 power cables, six 1Gb management links and 10 10Gb data connections, boosted performance up to 25%, supported Oracle/Exchange/SQL and other workloads, and delivered measurable value within one week; features like inline deduplication/compression and VM‑centric management were rated extremely valuable.
