Town of Newington - Customer Case Study

The Town of Newington, Connecticut (pop. 30,000) IT department of five supports 200 users across two on‑campus data centers and roughly 96 VMs. Facing aging HP servers and a LeftHand SAN, crowded racks and complex cabling, plus an outdated tape‑based backup process, the team needed to deploy a mission‑critical CAD/RMS public‑safety app, improve disaster recovery, simplify management and stay within budget.

Newington implemented a SimpliVity OmniCube hyperconverged federation (four CN‑3000s) integrated with VMware vCenter, collapsing server and storage into a single, easy‑to‑manage platform. Inline deduplication and compression reduced used storage from about 10 TB to 5.9 TB (~40%), recovered capacity and ~$5,000 in network infrastructure, streamlined backups and DR with rapid disk‑based protection, reduced cabling and data‑center footprint, and delivered easier administration, scalable growth and ongoing cost savings.
