A HPE Simplivity Case Study
Synernet, an outsourced provider of administrative services for the healthcare industry, faced an aging, multivendor IT stack—HP servers and capacity‑constrained Dell EqualLogic arrays—that was costly, complex to manage, slow to scale and unable to meet disaster‑recovery needs. The environment made expanding capacity, deploying new apps and troubleshooting time‑consuming and error‑prone, and Synernet needed to simplify operations, improve data protection and accelerate service agility for mission‑critical systems like Exchange, SQL Server, IIS and Citrix XenApp.
Synernet replaced the legacy stack with SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure (three nodes in the primary site, two in the secondary), gaining VM‑centric management in vCenter and built‑in deduplication, compression and data protection. The result: reliable, near‑instant backup/restore and failover/failback across data centers with no data loss, VM cloning and migration in seconds, dramatic storage efficiency (1.65 PB logical reduced to ~15.5 TB physical) and lower OPEX by eliminating SAN specialists and reducing bandwidth, licensing, power and cooling costs.
