Special District Risk Management Authority - Customer Case Study

The Special District Risk Management Authority (SDRMA) is a California public entity risk pool serving more than 700 member agencies and running a custom enterprise risk management platform (Exchange, SQL, policy/accounting/portal, BI). SDRMA, supported by iFish Group, was running out of storage and needed to improve disaster recovery; their prior converged setup required adding full nodes to expand capacity and relied on multiple vendors for backup and replication.

SDRMA deployed three SimpliVity OmniCubes (two in the primary datacenter, one remote) in about a week. The hyperconverged solution delivered inline deduplication and much better storage utilization, eliminated separate backup/replication products, and improved WAN performance and DR. Backups now run every 15 minutes with selective 10‑year retention, restores that take minutes, and data efficiency exceeding 40:1 (versus ~2.8:1 previously), reducing cost, complexity and backup windows while providing easy scale‑out.
