Red Bull Racing accelerates performance with hyperconverged IT

Red Bull Racing, a leading Formula One team, depends on ultra-fast IT to support vehicle design, business functions and trackside analytics where decisions are made in fractions of a second. Its legacy, heterogeneous virtualization estate—roughly 500 VMs and 50 TB of data—was creating performance bottlenecks for proprietary F1 applications and virtual desktops, and the team needed more agility to process the ~400 GB of race-weekend data quickly.

Red Bull Racing implemented HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure to consolidate and accelerate its VMware and VDI estate and trackside systems. The move cut post‑processing time from nine minutes to two, delivered noticeably faster VDI responsiveness, and enabled one‑minute, three‑click workstation recovery versus a previous hour‑long process—improving decision speed, simplifying management and reducing operational overhead.
