Practimed, a Belgian healthcare provider, faced a costly, hard-to-scale legacy IT environment of siloed servers and storage that could not meet RPO/RTO goals or strict legal requirements for securing patient records. Critical systems—PACS radiology imaging, electronic health records, lab applications and databases—were at risk from inadequate disaster recovery and limited availability.

Practimed deployed SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure across two data centers, replacing a full rack with three 2U nodes. The solution’s inline deduplication, compression and VM-centric management enabled rapid backups, site-to-site VM moves and fast restores, improving availability and simplifying administration while reducing footprint and TCO—consolidating 123.7 TB logical into 9.69 TB physical (12.8:1 efficiency).
