A HPE Simplivity Case Study
The Northern California Carpenters Regional Council (NCCRC), which supports thousands of union members across 27 sites, faced rising costs and operational risk from an aging, multivendor IT environment that hosted core membership and apprentice management applications (Microsoft SQL Server and .NET). Their legacy servers and storage consumed two full equipment racks in a colocation facility, drove high monthly fees, and relied on slow, manual backup and recovery processes that threatened availability and scalability.
NCCRC deployed SimpliVity’s OmniCube hyperconverged infrastructure, consolidating two racks into two 2U nodes (with an additional node planned for DR), and leveraging inline deduplication and compression for major storage savings. The result: over 50% lower colocation fees, dramatic data-efficiency (wide data reduction ratios), backups and recoveries reduced from hours or days to seconds, simplified administration that freed IT staff for strategic work, improved application performance and reliability, and faster overall TCO and ROI.
