A HPE Simplivity Case Study
The Namibia Institute of Pathology Limited is Namibia’s largest diagnostic pathology provider, serving public and private health sectors with more than 450 employees across 40 labs. After outsourcing IT for years, the institute faced a legacy environment of standalone physical servers, tape backups, no disaster recovery, limited scalability and little control over data—creating an urgent need for modernization, consolidation, data protection and high availability.
NIP implemented SimpliVity’s hyperconverged infrastructure to bring IT in-house, build a private cloud, and enable instant disaster recovery and off-site replication. The rollout consolidated 11 physical servers onto three OmniCube nodes and reduced rack space from 40U to 6U, runs 32 VMs (~35 TB of VM data), stores almost 4 PB of backup data, and achieved a 94.1:1 data efficiency ratio (2.12 PB logical to ~23 TB physical). The result: simplified, centrally managed infrastructure with improved DR, data protection, scalability and lower operational risk.
