A HPE Simplivity Case Study
Häagen-Dazs Japan, the premium ice cream manufacturer, faced recurring IT problems: unstable VDI performance, nearing file‑server capacity, lengthy weekly backups, fragmented server infrastructure, and limited disaster‑recovery capability. These issues threatened day‑to‑day productivity and business continuity, prompting a search for a platform that could stabilize VDI, consolidate systems, and shorten recovery times.
The company deployed an HPE SimpliVity 380 Gen10 hyperconverged solution (two production nodes plus a DR node) managed via VMware vCenter, using inline compression/deduplication and HPE SimpliVity RapidDR. The rollout delivered stable VDI, centralized operations, and consolidation of business servers, cut backup data by about 99.3%, eliminated multi‑day backup windows, enabled local backups every 30 minutes (remote hourly), and reduced RPO to 1/24 and RTO to 1/6—allowing full recovery in about 30 minutes and simpler, more scalable infrastructure management.
