How Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Designs to Win

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, a UK-based Formula One team, faced an inefficient CFD workflow that required aerodynamics engineers to run hundreds of Linux and Windows steps on two separate, high‑spec workstations. The split OS environment forced manual data transfers, added hardware and maintenance overhead, and limited responsiveness for graphics‑intensive pre/post‑processing needed to deliver tens of thousands of design changes each season.

Working with HPE and Citrix, the team deployed Citrix Workspace with a Linux VDA hosted on HPE SimpliVity 380 to virtualize high‑end Linux and Windows desktops on a single platform. The solution delivered interactive HDX 3D performance, drag‑and‑drop between virtual desktops, faster rendering and response from data‑center GPUs, and easier IT management—enabling quicker design iterations, improved productivity, reduced overhead, and better on‑track results.
