Preview of the City of Encinitas Case Study

Enabling daily life in a coastal city The City of Encinitas keeps residents safe and engaged with 24x7 remote connectivity

The City of Encinitas, a coastal California municipality serving about 60,000 residents, needed to secure and modernize its IT infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted public services and protect critical SCADA water systems—challenges made urgent by a minor security incident and the sudden shift to remote work during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Working with HPE and partner Nth Generation, the city deployed HPE ProLiant servers, HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure, HPE Nimble Storage, VMware Horizon and HPE iLO to virtualize systems and deliver VDI access. The solution strengthened cybersecurity, enabled 24x7 remote connectivity, reduced hardware maintenance and costs (including replacing 5% of desktops with thin clients), freed IT staff for higher‑value work, and improved service reliability for residents.
