A HPE Simplivity Case Study
Federation University Australia, a regional university serving about 25,000 students across four campuses, needed to modernize aging IT infrastructure to protect the student experience and free up resources for digital initiatives. Its traditional servers, storage, and backup systems were reaching end of life, limiting scalability and increasing operational overhead—challenges made more urgent by the shift to remote and flexible learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Working with NTT Ltd., the university deployed HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure and HPE InfoSight, which improved application performance, accelerated backups and restores (full backups now take seconds), and optimized storage through predictive analytics. The new platform increased availability, reduced maintenance costs (saving AUD$90,000 to date), and is projected to save AUD$1 million over five years, enabling continued digital transformation and better support for students and faculty.
