A HPE Simplivity Case Study
Brigham Young University, an educational institution, needed to modernize its data center and implement a disaster recovery/backup mandate while relieving the burden of managing multiple vendors and disparate solutions. The university also needed a platform to run production and research applications (including Microsoft SQL Server and industry-specific life-sciences workloads) more efficiently and reliably.
BYU deployed HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure—a compact, all-in-one appliance with VM‑centric management, inline dedupe/compression, integrated data protection and federation via vCenter. The result was 25–50% improved performance, 100:1–200:1 capacity savings, much faster and simpler restores and backups (completed within the backup window), reduced engineer overtime, and measurable value within 3–6 months.
