A HPE Simplivity Case Study
Altamaha Bank & Trust, a Georgia community bank with roughly $150M in assets, faced an aging, capacity-constrained IT environment made up of scattered Dell and other servers across four branches and an unreliable removable-media backup process. The legacy setup was costly, complex to scale, and exposed the bank to extended downtime and slow application performance, prompting the CTO to pursue a virtualization and modernization initiative.
The bank deployed HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure—consolidating 11 physical servers into three 2U nodes in a central data center plus two branch nodes for DR—to unify hypervisor, compute, storage and data protection. Results included continuous availability with seamless failover, VM replication and migration in seconds or minutes, backups of the teller application every 30 minutes instead of nightly, about 50% faster teller response times, a much smaller footprint, and simplified management via the VMware vCenter interface.
