University Data Centre Graduates to Highly-Scalable, Future-Proof Data Storage

The University of Bristol, a large, research-led institution with around 20,000 students, faced growing bandwidth demands and a SAN nearing capacity. Wanting to avoid repeated “forklift” upgrades and simplify management, the university worked with partner Cristie to evaluate hybrid storage options and selected Nimble Storage for its promise of scalable, flash-accelerated performance and ease of management.

Nimble deployed two CS460G arrays (scalable to 110 TB across two sites) using iSCSI to lower connectivity costs, and InfoSight for single-pane, proactive management. The result was fast, simple deployment, higher IOPS at lower cost, built‑in redundancy and reduced downtime, plus strong ROI that freed budget for other IT projects.
