A HPE Nimble Storage Case Study
The Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) supports Catholic schools across Queensland and relies on IT to deliver business applications, BI and web services to staff and stakeholders. QCEC’s aging, mixed storage environment was running out of capacity, suffering frequent disk failures and performance degradation, and blocking upgrades like the latest VMware release after receiving an end‑of‑life notice from a primary vendor.
QCEC deployed two Nimble CS200 arrays (with InfoSight) recommended and implemented with partner D&G, replacing the old SAN quickly and with minimal disruption. The new solution delivered immediate performance gains (average latency ~1.5 ms), uses less than 30% of array capacity thanks to compression, reduced data‑center footprint to under a quarter of the previous size, cut power supplies from eight to two, enabled active/active DR and real‑time monitoring, and opened options for Veeam backup and future hybrid‑cloud plans.
