Nimble Supplements Storage at Knox Grammar

Knox Grammar School, a prominent independent day and boarding school in Sydney serving around 2,500 boys across two campuses, needed to expand its storage and strengthen disaster recovery as part of a 2014 three-year review within its five-year hardware cycle. The IT team wanted enough capacity and better DR capabilities without overbuying up front; their existing off-site backup approach offered limited protection and no standby hardware.

Datacom proposed and deployed Nimble Storage CS240 arrays at each campus with full hardware replication and integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager. The flash-optimized arrays delivered faster performance, better compression and simplified management—making cloning, snapshots and test environments easy—while meeting capacity and DR needs for the remainder of the cycle; the school now plans to expand the Nimble solution going forward.
