A HPE Nimble Storage Case Study
M&C Saatchi Australia is a leading marketing services firm with about 350 staff across Sydney and Melbourne that manages roughly 37 TB of production data for high‑resolution creative work. When their storage support contract was ending and the vendor quoted $80,000 for renewal, the IT team — already stretched thin — realised their ageing array‑snapshot backup approach was hitting capacity limits and risking recovery times of up to 24 hours, prompting a search for a higher‑performing, easy‑to‑manage solution.
They deployed two Nimble CS260G arrays (after trialling a CS210), using hourly/weekly/monthly snapshots with built‑in replication; migration finished mid‑2013 and now supports ~37 TB across 30 VMware VMs. The change delivered faster file loads and noticeably better performance, dramatically reduced recovery times, simpler provisioning and management, proactive capacity alerts via InfoSight, and easy scalability with plans to relocate the secondary array off‑site for even stronger disaster recovery.
