Case Study: Grant Street Group achieves higher performance, lower costs, and a smaller data-center footprint with HPE Nimble Storage

Nimble Storage Keeps Grant Street Group Ahead of the Curve

Grant Street Group, a SaaS provider for government and financial institutions, faced aging storage that couldn’t meet a mix of large-capacity and ultra-low-latency workloads. Existing Dell and HP arrays lacked the needed capacity, performance and redundancy, while prior all‑flash systems were expensive, unreliable and poorly supported; GSG needed a cost-effective, VMware‑friendly platform that would reduce footprint and power use.

GSG deployed Nimble Storage — initially CS240 arrays and later a CS700 with an All Flash Shelf — and achieved the required performance (the team reports up to 125,000 write IOPS), easier deployments and non‑disruptive upgrades. The Nimble solution cut data center footprint in half, reduced power to about one quarter of the previous systems, lowered total cost versus all‑flash alternatives, and added proactive management through Nimble InfoSight for better capacity and latency planning.
