A HPE Nimble Storage Case Study
Tenix, a major infrastructure services provider with about 2,300 specialists across 70+ sites, was running a predominantly Microsoft/Cisco/VMware environment from a Melbourne data centre. An ageing SAN with no expansion capacity caused severe IOPS and disk latency problems—finance report runs could take up to 24 hours—prompting a search for a new storage solution.
After a successful proof-of-concept, Tenix deployed a Nimble CS420GX2 (8TB) via partner 02 Networks, initially to relieve IOPS pressure and later to replace the old SAN. The Nimble array delivered an eightfold improvement in report run times, greatly simplified administration, reduced rack space from 48U to 3U (cutting data-centre costs), and now supports about 40 servers and key applications including JD Edwards and VM snapshots.
