Case Study: Graniterock achieves dramatic performance and capacity gains with HPE Nimble Storage

A HPE Nimble Storage Case Study

Preview of the Graniterock Case Study

For Graniterock, Keeping Trucks Rolling and Concrete Flowing Requires Split-Second Timing – and Unflagging Storage Performance

Graniterock, a family-owned supplier and heavy-construction contractor that builds highways and airport runways, relies on real-time data to orchestrate concrete truck dispatch and field operations. The company was struggling with five disparate storage systems that were nearing capacity, delivering poor I/O performance, and requiring slow, downtime-prone backups and complex management.

Graniterock consolidated onto two Nimble CS240 converged storage arrays, which accelerated I/O, enabled frequent snapshots with no measurable performance impact, and simplified management through a GUI. The move delivered dramatic performance and capacity gains, consolidated ~85–90 VMs and Exchange workloads with active/passive replication, eliminated upgrade and backup downtime, reduced admin effort, and set the stage for a third array for offsite disaster recovery.
