A HPE Nimble Storage Case Study
The Canadian International School (CIS) in Singapore educates nearly 3,000 students across two campuses and relies heavily on technology for learning and administration. Faced with 24 aging servers that consumed excessive power and produced heat, CIS needed a more efficient data centre: a virtualised platform that would reduce physical servers, lower energy use and maintain reliable file services for staff and faculty.
With help from BioMedia, CIS deployed a VMware virtual environment on Cisco UCS and a Nimble SmartStack storage solution, including Nimble’s InfoSight monitoring. The upgrade cut the server footprint from five racks to two (with potential to shrink further), reduced heating and electricity consumption, extended UPS battery life from ~45 minutes to over an hour, and delivered cost-effective capacity and inline compression for reliable, scalable storage.
