Wi-Fi and security advancements mobilize Navy Marine Corps Intranet

The Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) supports more than 700,000 Sailors, Marines, civilians and contractors across the continental U.S., Hawaii and Japan. NMCI needed to extend secure, scalable wireless access — including outdoor coverage for aviation maintenance and logistics, a segmented guest network, centralized encryption, easy fast rollouts, and multi-vendor integration — while reducing management overhead.

Aruba, in partnership with Perspecta under the NGEN contract, deployed indoor/outdoor Wi‑Fi with Aruba 360 Secure Fabric and AirWave network management. The solution enabled on-site data entry and streamlined self-service device onboarding to one of the world’s largest intranets, kept military traffic separate from guest devices, boosted operational readiness and yielded long-term savings by reducing wired ports.
