A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
The University of Westminster in London faced an increasingly strained campus wireless network that had grown organically over years. Coverage and RF planning were inconsistent, multiple controllers and SSIDs made management hard, there were no usage metrics, and IT struggled to support a diverse and growing pool of devices across multiple sites.
The university deployed Aruba (about 500 APs with 7220 controllers) integrated with its HP wired and Brocade core, plus Aruba AirWave for monitoring, ClearPass for authentication/SSID consolidation (including Eduroam) and RAPs for remote sites, supported by partner Khipu. The result: reliable, “just works” Wi‑Fi with proactive monitoring and diagnostics, streamlined access and device insight, fewer help‑desk escalations, improved capacity planning and robust support for tens of thousands of unique devices.
