A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
The University of Bahrain, serving over 26,000 students and 1,800 staff across a 5 sq. km campus of more than 80 buildings, needed a high-performance, secure Wi‑Fi platform to support BYOD, dense user concentrations (up to 10,000 simultaneous users) and a move to a digital university. Existing infrastructure from 2008 was no longer adequate as smartphone use surged, and the IT team required reliable coverage, centralized management and strong access control.
Working with Kanoo IT, the university upgraded to Aruba 802.11n access points and dual Aruba 7200 Series mobility controllers (configured Active/Standby), deploying 450 APs with central management, ClientMatch roaming and a built‑in firewall. The result: reliable campus connectivity with each AP supporting 100–120 clients, simplified administration, secure segmented access for staff/students/guests, 70% campus coverage after phase one, and plans to extend coverage with outdoor APs and vendor-backed support.
