Unified Aruba network architecture underpins mobile innovation and smart management at City of London

The City of London Corporation — the local authority for the Square Mile — needed to modernize IT across 120 sites while consolidating Police and Corporation networks, rolling out Office365 to 4,000 users and supporting mobile working on a tight budget. The challenge was to deliver a single, secure network architecture that maintained clear separation and compliance with strict Home Office data-security standards, while giving managers granular visibility into who and how the network was being used.

The City deployed a unified Aruba solution (1,000+ 802.11ac APs, ~400 switches, mobility controllers, ClearPass and AirWave) to consolidate wired and wireless estates under a single vendor toolset. The result: consistent, high-performance connectivity enabling ~70% of staff to use mobile devices, stronger policy-based security and centralized access management, better network insight, new mobile services (fingerprint ID, stock control, reporting apps) and a culture of innovation with scope for future IoT and smart-building projects.
