A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the Town of Milton Case Study

Town of Milton delivers Wi-Fi to venues for 3M users annually

The Town of Milton, Ontario — one of Canada's fastest‑growing municipalities with about 110,000 residents and 1,300 employees — needed secure, high‑performance indoor and outdoor Wi‑Fi across recreation, arts and civic facilities to support residents, staff and growing IoT demands. The challenge was to provide scalable, centrally managed wireless access that could handle thousands of devices daily, enable seamless roaming and secure onboarding for staff, vendors and connected building systems.

Milton deployed Aruba indoor and outdoor access points with ArubaOS 8, ClearPass for authentication and policy enforcement, and AirWave for centralized management. The solution now delivers mobile access to nearly 3 million visitors annually across six major facilities, covers staff and guest Wi‑Fi at 14 sites over 140 square miles, automates secure onboarding of thousands of devices daily with no IT intervention, and supports scalable IoT adoption and anonymized usage analytics for planning.
