A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Texas A&M University, a large research campus serving over 47,000 students across 5,000 acres, relies heavily on wireless access as a core service. As wireless usage and an increasingly mixed-vendor infrastructure grew, the university struggled to scale support, gain visibility into the network, and proactively address issues—creating operational inefficiencies and risking service reliability for students, faculty and events.
Texas A&M deployed Aruba’s AirWave management suite alongside Aruba controllers and APs, using VisualRF for site surveys and RAPIDS for rogue detection. The platform enabled clearer division of labor (installation, field services, and network engineering), faster provisioning, proactive alerts that caught configuration mismatches, and focused rogue-AP workflows—improving reliability across ~1,900 APs, supporting thousands of daily users, and delivering better reporting for stakeholders.
