Taking control with a unified network to accelerate transformation of healthcare experience

Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis (RKZ) is a 275‑bed hospital with 1,450 staff and a national specialist burns unit that needed to future‑proof its wired and wireless networks during a multi‑building renovation. The existing infrastructure couldn’t keep pace with growing demands for clinician mobility, digital services and IoT; the ICT team sought a simpler, more secure platform to enable seamless roaming, support many new devices and reduce management overhead.

RKZ worked with Aruba (and partner Zetacom) to deploy ~440 Aruba APs, clustered Mobility Controllers and Mobility Master, HPE FlexFabric and Aruba campus switches, plus ClearPass and AirWave for access control and management. The unified network delivered fast, site‑wide access to EHRs, VoIP, Office rollouts and bedside computers, enabled smartphone and barcode workflows, reduced downtime and administrative effort, and created a scalable, role‑based foundation for IQ Messenger, asset tracking, wayfinding and future healthcare IoT.
