A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the Roseville City School District Case Study

Student engagement and collaboration strengthened with BYOD and Aruba Wi-Fi at Roseville city schools

Roseville City School District, a TK–8 district in Northern California, needed to move to a mobile‑first, BYOD learning model while meeting state‑mandated online assessments. Its legacy wireless infrastructure caused poor handoffs and unreliable performance in high‑density classrooms, so the district sought a scalable, secure and cost‑effective network that could be deployed quickly and fit E‑rate funding constraints.

Partnering with Aruba (HPE) and Team One, Roseville deployed Aruba Instant 802.11ac Wave 2 access points, PoE+ Aruba switches, ClearPass access control and AirWave management—roughly 700 APs and 400 switches across 22 sites supporting 11,000 students and 1,600 staff. The result: reliable, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi with flawless online assessments, faster installations (four sites per day), lower operational costs (about 50% offset via E‑rate), and a scalable platform for future IoT and digital learning initiatives.
