A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Tennis Australia needed to deliver reliable, high-capacity Wi‑Fi across Melbourne Park for the two-week Australian Open, where hundreds of thousands of fans, 700 players and more than 1,000 media representatives expect seamless connectivity. With dramatic year-on-year traffic growth and roughly 65,000 daily guests during the event, the organisation required a secure, scalable network that could support live video, mobile apps, media uploads and guest access without interruption.
Tennis Australia deployed Aruba’s 802.11ac access points across the precinct and used Aruba ClearPass for secure, policy-driven guest and stakeholder access, supported onsite by expanded operations and Aruba engineers. The solution handled 52 TB of precinct data, connected 77,000 smart devices, sustained a threefold traffic increase over 2014, and delivered peak independent speeds of 61 Mbps down / 48 Mbps up—enabling fast media uploads, stable streaming and a consistent fan experience.
