Seneca transforms educational experiences for 100,000 students with Wi-Fi and location services

Seneca College, one of Canada's largest comprehensive colleges serving about 100,000 students across multiple campuses, needed reliable, secure, and scalable connectivity plus integrated location services to improve student and faculty wayfinding and support a digitally focused curriculum. The challenge was to provide seamless secure access for any mobile or IoT device, integrate location-based features into the Seneca Navigate app, and handle growing device density across indoor and outdoor spaces.

Seneca deployed Aruba Meridian for app development, 1,300 location-ready access points, 1,200 beacons, ClearPass for authentication and policy, and AirWave for network management. The upgrade delivered high-performance campus-wide Wi‑Fi and in-app wayfinding, eliminated Wi‑Fi tickets and complaints, increased student and faculty satisfaction, helped part-time instructors find rooms in challenging conditions, and enabled continued digital curriculum innovation.
