A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Salem Hospital, part of Salem Health and home to Oregon’s busiest emergency department, needed to mobilize clinical systems and voice services to the point of care across a large, multi‑building campus. The hospital wanted Epic EMR and other automation apps running on 300+ COWs and clinician laptops, support for 1,000+ Ascom Wi‑Fi voice devices and Blackberry UMA phones, and secure guest access — all in a challenging indoor/outdoor RF environment where mission‑critical voice and data had to coexist reliably.
Salem selected Aruba’s 802.11a/b/g/n solution — roughly 1,000 access points with centralized controllers, AirWave management, policy‑enforcement firewall and Remote Access Points — leveraging Adaptive Radio Management and QoS to optimize performance. The deployment now supports nearly 300 medical applications across campus and remote clinics on a single secure network, reduced VLAN and wired port needs, simplified IT management, and delivered measurable cost savings without costly wired infrastructure upgrades.
