A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Universal Health Services (UHS), a leading U.S. hospital and behavioral-health provider, needed to quickly support a surge in telehealth and cloud‑based applications during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Its legacy MPLS WAN lacked the agility and bandwidth to prioritize critical clinical and business apps (EMR, McKesson, Kronos) while handling increased Zoom and Microsoft 365 traffic across dozens of distributed facilities.
UHS deployed HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect SD‑WAN, Orchestrator and WAN Optimization across ~200 behavioral health sites, bonding MPLS and local broadband, enabling local breakout for cloud apps and prioritized paths for data‑center systems. The result: reliable failover and higher uptime, rapid bandwidth scaling and site provisioning, up to ~85% data reduction for Microsoft 365 (and significant reductions for Veeam/CIFS), and assured performance for expanded telehealth and business operations.
