A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
PortAventura World is a major resort an hour from Barcelona with three theme parks, a water park, hotels, a convention centre and more, serving millions of visitors a year. As attractions, hotels and IoT devices multiplied, its legacy, piecemeal network lacked the scale, security and visibility required to become a measurable, digital business, so IT needed a coherent, future‑proof architecture that was simple to manage and interoperable with third‑party apps.
PortAventura deployed Aruba’s Mobile‑First architecture—core and distribution switches, mobility controllers, ClearPass access control, AirWave management and user‑experience sensors—implemented with HPE Pointnext Services. The upgraded network now supports ~10,000 daily users and 30,000 devices, provides profile‑based access and dynamic segmentation, gives clear visibility of who/what is on the network, and scales to add IoT and “smart park” features while enabling real‑time monitoring and data‑driven operations.
