PolyU is the first university in Hong Kong to deliver a full 802.11ac all-wireless network for GenMobile

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), a technology‑leading campus serving 30,000 students and 5,000 staff, faced an explosion of mobile devices—detecting up to 20,000 unique devices at peak times—creating urgent needs for high‑density, ultra‑fast, secure Wi‑Fi, support for future mobile and location‑based apps, and streamlined network management to enable eLearning and campus services.

PolyU deployed Aruba Wave 2 802.11ac APs (with integrated Bluetooth beacons), 7200 Series mobility controllers and Aruba AirWave management to build a full 802.11ac all‑wireless #GenMobile campus. The rollout delivered improved coverage, security and performance for high‑density use, enabled location‑aware services and mobile app development, and gave IT centralized visibility and faster troubleshooting to support ongoing digital learning and campus innovation.
