Case Study: DHL achieves mobile-first, fully automated sorting centres with HPE Aruba Networking

A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the DHL Case Study

Paving the way towards fully-automated sorting centres with Aruba Mobile First Architecture

DHL, a global logistics leader with more than 350,000 employees, operates 35 high‑capacity parcel sorting centres in Germany that process up to 50,000 parcels an hour. To reach its goal of fully automated, more efficient sorting centres closer to customers, DHL needed reliable, scalable wireless connectivity to support handheld scanners, CCTV, location services and IoT, while simplifying network management and securing remote/vendor access.

DHL deployed Aruba’s Mobile First Architecture—over 1,500 Aruba Instant Access Points across the 35 centres, AirWave network management and ClearPass NAC (integrated with the firewall)—implemented and remotely managed by partner Gigahertz. The upgrade delivered uninterrupted 24/7 connectivity, enabled mobile devices and CCTV over Wi‑Fi, improved communication and tracking, simplified new centre rollouts, and created a scalable platform and blueprint for IoT, location‑based services and automated asset tracking.
