Optimising ITOps while enhancing performance and security of digital banking services

Cairo Amman Bank (CAB), a leading Jordanian retail bank with 97 branches and 190 ATMs, faced rising infrastructure costs and persistent network performance and security issues that were degrading digital services—monthly salary processing could take eight hours, CCTV backups were slow and unreliable, and branch connectivity and visibility were limited. The bank needed a secure, scalable platform to boost transaction speeds, simplify branch operations, support IP telephony and CCTV, and reduce TCO while enabling ongoing digital transformation.

CAB deployed an Aruba SD‑Branch architecture (core/aggregation/access switches, 7210/7010 gateways, VPN concentrators), Aruba Central and ClearPass for unified cloud management and policy enforcement, and upgraded uplinks (DC spine to 40G and branch links). The rollout centralized WAN/LAN/WLAN control and eliminated weekly outages; results included salary processing cut from 8 hours to 30 minutes (≈94% faster), CCTV backup time reduced by 75%, transaction latency down from 20s to 3s, 3x lower five‑year TCO, a 50% reduction in MPLS costs, and stronger micro‑segmentation security with single‑pane monitoring.
