Case Study: Harry Reid International Airport achieves seamless, high-capacity Wi‑Fi 6E connectivity and operational excellence with HPE Aruba Networking

A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the Harry Reid International Airport Case Study

Mobilizing the world’s entertainment travel hub

Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) serves more than 57 million passengers and 18,000 staff annually and must deliver seamless, secure connectivity even during massive event-driven surges (for example, nearly 104,000 passengers the Monday after the Super Bowl). The airport’s challenge was to provide high-capacity, low-latency Wi‑Fi for guests’ bandwidth‑heavy devices while also supporting critical operational IoT systems (baggage tracking, air traffic info, security cameras) and strict network segmentation.

LAS deployed HPE Aruba Networking Wi‑Fi 6E (indoor and outdoor APs), ClearPass, AirWave, UXI and HPE infrastructure (GreenLake, Alletra, ProLiant, StoreOnce) to scale capacity, security and visibility. The result is consistent, future-ready connectivity—handling 700,000+ unique sessions and nearly 40,000 clients daily during major events—supporting operational IoT and location insights, and helping LAS maintain top JD Power passenger-satisfaction rankings.
