A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Midland University, a 1,200‑student private college in Fremont, Nebraska, faced rapidly growing enrollment and a surge in mobile device use that exposed limitations in its aging Meru wireless network. The campus needed a secure, reliable, and centrally managed WLAN that could support teaching and learning, high-performance student connectivity, and future growth.
Midland deployed an Aruba solution—AP105/135/175 access points, 7220 controllers, Aruba access switches, plus AirWave for network visibility and optimization and ClearPass for policy-based AAA and guest provisioning—with AirGroup for Apple services. The result was pervasive indoor/outdoor Wi‑Fi, granular device and policy control, the ability to prioritize academic traffic and quickly stand up event SSIDs, faster installs, higher student satisfaction, and a cost‑effective, scalable foundation for future expansion.
