Mediclinic Lays the Foundation for the Future of Medicine with Aruba’s Wi-Fi Solution

Mediclinic Southern Africa, a private hospital group operating 53 hospitals in South Africa (and sites in Dubai), needed a reliable, secure wireless foundation to support clinical workflows, patient care, administration and operational efficiency. The group wanted to "own the air" by providing staff with dependable access to medical records and connected devices, while also meeting strict security, centralised management and coverage challenges posed by thick-walled hospital buildings.

Mediclinic chose Aruba’s Wi‑Fi solution and completed a group-wide roll‑out from March 2014 to May 2015. The converged network now supports voice and data, digital radiology/PACS, mobile monitors, porter and triage systems, collaboration via Microsoft Lync, and guest access, with plans for real‑time location and tablet-based pathology workflows. The deployment has driven upgrades across hospitals, improved clinician productivity, reduced paperwork and enhanced patient and operational outcomes.
