Loyola Marymount University Selects AirWave for its Transition to Thin Wireless LAN Architecture

Loyola Marymount University needed to deliver reliable, campus‑wide wireless access while migrating a sprawling mix of standalone Cisco Aironet access points and new LWAPP thin‑APs/controllers to a unified architecture. The IT team required a single management console that could handle multi‑vendor and multi‑architecture environments, provide usage visibility for capacity planning, and enforce security policies including rogue‑AP detection.

LMU deployed Aruba’s AirWave Wireless Management Suite (AMP) with RAPIDS rogue detection and VisualRF mapping to manage Cisco Aironet APs and Airespace 4400 controllers from one console. AirWave preserved historical data through the migration, simplified monitoring and reporting, tightened policy enforcement, and sped troubleshooting—resulting in a more reliable, secure wireless service that students rely on and a reduced support burden for IT.
