A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Lanes Group, a Leeds‑based leader in UK utilities and infrastructure services, faced the twin challenges of an ageing national water network—losing three billion liters a day—and growing commercial pressure to cut costs, tighten environmental protections and scale rapidly through new contracts and acquisitions. To do this it needed a consistent, secure connectivity platform to support thousands of sensors, remote crews working to one‑hour SLAs, and fast integration of new business units.
Lanes implemented an HPE Aruba unified SASE architecture—SD‑WAN, CX switches, Wi‑Fi 6, Aruba Central, UXI sensors and zero‑trust access—to create a single pane of glass for management and robust mobile connectivity. The upgrade improved field reliability and video-enabled diagnostics, strengthened security for bids, accelerated onboarding of contracts (including two deals adding £170m) and unlocked new service and revenue opportunities while supporting the company’s goal of growing from £600m to £1bn annual revenue.
